Tournament Review

Congratulations to the u17 Boys Academy team for winning their bracket at the Ohio Elite Boys Showcase.  The event came with a price as captain and long time team member Manny Weldemicael was rushed to the hospital with a broken clavicle.  Everyone wishes Manny a speedy recovery.  

On the field, the boys won 1-0, 2-0, and needed a tie against Fairfax (VA) in the final match to win the division outright.  Tariq Akeel scored late in the 2nd half and Alliance carried of the play through the match.  It seemed as if a win was in the books but, the Alliance boys had to settle for a tie after a clear mistake in the back gifted the Fairfax team a goal.

A missed pk and two second half goals show the teams quality in a 2-0 win over a very good Evansville squad. Goals by Derek Granum and Esteban Russel came in the final ten minutes but, the defense was the story of the night. Justin Wynn threw himself across the goal saving a certain goal and John Reglin and Nate Heyboer were kept busy in the 2nd half. A mention also needs to be made of Jacob Aman who played the entire match as outside back and did a phenomenal job!

The first match ended 1-0 despite the boys creating a number of excellent opportunities.  Esteban Russel found the back of the net in the 2nd half only to have the ball taken out on an offside call. 

Next up is an 8pm kick-off vs. Evansville.

Games delayed. 8am warm up and 12pm training session have the boys ready for a 3pm kick off.
